I worked at SC Johnson part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

-Strong family values
-Great work/life balance programs
-Excellent products
-Great pay and excellent benefits
-A lot of opportunities to work with cross functional teams

Cons

-Very slow to change/ don't know how to effectively implement change
-Very little recruitment of diverse talent or ethnicity. More interested in friendship than actual work performance.
-Lots of old habit/employees who basically reject any kind of change.
-No clear direction in leadership
-Passive aggressive culture

Advice to Management

A lot of employees currently in charge of implementing changes have no clear direction on where they are headed. Senior management needs to get new and diverse talent to effectively implement change and stop relying on friendship to advance the careers of employees that have been there for years.

I have been working at SC Johnson full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Childcare center and summer camp is top notch

    Cons

Lower and mid IT Management is cult-like and needs some fresh leadership and direction.
There is an inconsistent and empty approach to personal development and growth opportunity within the organization for talented individuals.
    Lack of recognition for innovation.

    Advice to Management

Hire qualified entry level managers, repurpose the unqualified, and weed out the deadwood in sr. Management. If change is to occur, we need to start with leadership.
Embrace enhanced telecommuting program that encourages employees with long commutes to work remotely more often. SCJ claims to be green but their carbon footprint for employees commuting to and from home to work sites is still large.

    Pros

flexible work schedule, promotion of work life balance, fitness centers, on-site yoga, great on site food, childcare center

    Cons

very close knit, your family life and work life blur, Racine/ Milwaukee is not that great of a location to live. The pollution is not good for your health.
