    I worked at SDL

    Pros

Coworkers are motivated at first and competent when they get the proper training. The workload was acceptable in theory, although the numerous internal problems made it difficult to be productive at times. If you land in the right team with the right people and project managers, you could go a long way. The place of employment is in a cool spot downtown. If you're used to open hostility, SDL is pretty tame on the surface.

    Cons

Outward-facing company almost exclusively. Internal management is clueless or disinterested, not aware of the workflow nor about the differences between teams and services. No one wants to make any decision, change anything or improve the processes. Extremely scattered resources, everyone seems to be working against each other. Lots of time wasted, difficult communication, instability. Lack of quality persons in key...

    Advice to Management

Find a translation/localization director or something. More than half the office is scattered in teams that can't communicate nor collaborate together. It's just a joke. Have a local survey about morale and possible improvements. Try to remember there are more employees than the 5 or 10 people who hang around the boss.

Most of PMs are really patient and they want us to make the most out of it here.

    Cons

Not so much. I had a pleasant experience here.

I worked at SDL for less than a year

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere but that’s about it

    Cons

Very disorganized, schedulers contact you for a project but you may show up and being told to turn around and go home without any sorts of compensation offered. Most of the testing projects are delocalized in eastern countries for cost cutting so based on the language you speak it may be very slow. I would say go for it if you are in between job but don’t expect to make a decent salary out of it.

    Advice to Management

Have the teams communicate more with their schedulers.
