Pros

Flexible work hours; ESOP program is great; 401K package is mediocre; PM+ is a very nice tool for managing a project

Cons

Commaraderie is lacking; management is very, very slow to correct problems; need to threaten to leave to get fairly compensated; compensation is not comensurate with contributions; one can be incompetent and still get raises; will not provide new desktop computer unless yours breaks - we have some antiques around here.

Advice to Management

Need a better personnel review procedure. In other words, why does SNC tolerate (and reward) people that are either incompetent or are not doing their jobs?

    Pros

    flex schedule
    4 day work week (4-10's)
    Oil and gas
No parking garage and not in Downtown or on the West side. More central location.
    Pay is great.
    In house project management system.

    Cons

smaller company, less recognized in the Houston area
Bechtel, Fluor, KBR and Jacobs are all more well known in the US, therefore tend to have an easier time to get work.
SNCL bought out a small local operation and made that their Houston office. This was evident in the lack of continuity and corporate culture that is aligned with Montreal or Calgary (World HQ).
Not much interaction with World HQ personnel.

    Advice to Management

have a more robust long range plan

    I have been working at SNC-Lavalin full-time

    Pros

Overall a great place to work. Benefits are slightly better than average but flexibility in working schedule is great. Pay, vacation time, health insurance and other benefits still make it a great place to be. Knowledgeable and experienced people are there to make gaining knowledge while having an enjoyable atmosphere make it worth the time you put in.

    Cons

Very fast paced at times, no bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Give employees more incentive to do their best at all times.
