I worked at SNC-Lavalin full-time

Pros

Winnipeg office has some of the best people (engineers/techs/drafters) in the industry. Everyone is very technically competent. 3 weeks vacation minimum + 5 sick days. The office has a family-like feel to it. Small size office means you get to learn wide range of works in a short period of time.

Cons

Winnipeg is very very cold ... for someone who's not originally from the region.

    I worked at SNC-Lavalin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

In our division it is a very friendly atmosphere at the lower level of the echellons. There is always lots of challenges.

    Cons

Its like a federation of businesses creating competition between the business units. Upper management is weak and make decision based on their own division rather than looking at the good of the whole company. There are too many competing chiefs

    Advice to Management

Make the hard decisions and invest to reset things straight. (I understand that the new CEO is actually doing just that).

I have been working at SNC-Lavalin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of good opportunities for people who want to just put their head down and work

    Cons

hard to grow unless you are on the right side of corporate politics

    Advice to Management

Spend more time selecting leaders in management at all levels not just at CEO, as there is liability at all levels. Get control on corporate politics. Implementing monitoring and enforcement of the policies not just create policies for the eyes of the market and shareholders.
