I have been working at SNC-Lavalin full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very forward thinking top management, good strategy and definitely working at full steam to get past the recent events.

    Cons

Little support for the programs, communication within departments is practically non-existant. There is so much bureaucracy, and changing methodology that result in a good portion of your time filling out paperwork, not delivering work.

    Advice to Management

Please check on the middle and lower echelons! It has become a model of inefficacy!

I worked at SNC-Lavalin full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience working at SNC-Lavalin during its acquisition of Kentz Engineers and Constructors and Atkins Offshore Engineering. The Oil and Gas SNC team includes Legacy Valerus and Kentz employees, who are some of the best around. Flexible hours, great company benefits.

    Cons

Lack of new sales does not allow for stability or growth. Finding a Sales and BD team who don’t just appear polished and successful, but who can actually go in and do what it takes to get the job done would be beneficial. Sales people are good at talking and presentation, but what’s needed is action.

    Advice to Management

The company has a sophisticated appearance and leadership, global and business savvy by nature. But more important than pedigree and appearance is the ability to make the tough decisions, even if that means putting on some humility, reducing expenses, cutting superfluous costs and fancy business travel - to actually be successful. May be worth it to look at companies who have struggled, even gone though bankruptcy,...

I worked at SNC-Lavalin full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Great co-workers, decent pay.

    Cons

Too much politics, too many incompetent managers, outdated technology. No training opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Look in the mirror and make the needed changes to your management roles. Stop laying off the dedicated and hard workers and get rid of the incompetent managers. Step up to the plate and lead by example.
