Pros

Your annual pay is pretty good for having zero college education, starting at the mid 50's up and into the 60's. Benefits are good but you have to pay for half and the company pays for half.

Cons

The unfortunate thing is that you are paid for only 40 hours and the you are scheduled 55 but will work 60+ hours per week. They have made it on the list for one of the best diverse companies to work for, so if you are a white male you will have trouble getting promoted.

Advice to Management

They are knowledgeable but sometimes they like to show their power and make you do things that wouldn't really have to do with gaining sales or improving the store.

I have been working at Safeway full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work life balance
Easy work if you know what you are doing and didn't grow up at Safeway

    Cons

Challenging work environment is impossible to find here
Managers that given credit and respect to employees is non existent
They hire people above their job requirements, so don't be fooled

    Advice to Management

Treat as you would like to be treated
Recognize the incompetent in the Director and VP spots you hired and stop the bleeding as it impacts the entire team
Try to give us some benefits for a 200000+ organization - like good healthcare

    Pros

Great benefits, most managers in accounting and finance are very encouraging of the work/life balance, you can get all the help and information you need, if you know who and how to ask.

    Cons

Pay is low compared to other comparable jobs, but that is just the grocery retail industry as a whole until you get to the executive level.

    Advice to Management

A more structured training program to advance the skills of accounting and finance professionals, encouragement, support, and funding for CPA licenses, and a much clearer training on the available resources available to support the job.
