I have been working at Saga Communications full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Saga is a little "old school" when it comes to radio, but that is a good thing. The company is completely focused on serving the listeners and the communities which the stations are in. Our local market has excellent management and a talented group of employees who work hard and support each other. There were some staff reductions at the height of the recession that couldn't be avoided, but Saga hasn't cut staff as deeply as other radio companies and now that conditions have improved, some positions have been brought back.
Excellent employee health plan.

Cons

Saga is a fairly small company that is focused on mostly small markets, so there aren't as many opportunities to advance as other companies. Some salaries are low relative to the industry.

Advice to Management

Keep up the good work!

    Pros

Unlike much of the broadcasting world today, Saga goes out of their way to build up and invest in their people.

    Cons

The biggest limitation on a company like Saga is the lack of big market opportunities. However, many amazing people have made great careers at Saga.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

As radio employers go, they're pretty good. Generally treat employees respectfully, which can't be said of many radio employers anymore. This was truly one of the great companies to work for back in the day when the radio business was doing well.

    Cons

Industry wide problems plague this company, too - job cuts due to budgetary reasons, salary cuts for those still employed. Too much work being divided among too few people creating a lot of stress, killing creativity and sucking all the fun out of what used to be a business based on fun.

    Advice to Management

Too bad the business is dying.
