Pros

They pay fairly well - that doesn't look so good over time because of the stressful effort you expend watching your back and CYing Your A.

Cons

Management turns around like a revolving door in Macy's during the Christmas Holidays. They claim to follow a Catholic Mission - yeah right. Many good people have been cannon-balled out of there - just because they can .........

    Pros

Pay Checks clear - for now at least.

    Cons

Many issues. Can't trust management - a revolving door. No stability - fake mission.
Lots of issues at this place. They have kicked out many good performers - cater to the dead beats.

    Advice to Management

What can I say - need new owners. It's been going on for years - hopeless.

I worked at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly, caring co-workers; fair compensation

    Cons

RNs are expected to be able to independently care for critically ill patients (including neonates) after only 8 weeks of orientation, even without any prior ICU experience. If the RN is unable to independently provide all care.....even when assigned to a patient with a condition the RN has never experienced before or knows anything about....the management's response is to terminate the RN. I have witnessed this on more than one or two occasions. This promotes unsafe nursing practice that places the patients' lives and the nurses' licenses in jeopardy.

    Advice to Management

Don't be so quick to get rid of your RNs, merely because they don't progress through their orientation at the speed in which YOU have determined is acceptable. Invest the time in your RNs, so they receive the kind of training that ensures excellent patient outcomes. No two people learn at the same rate or the same way. Take that into consideration when evaluating the RN's progress.
