Pros

Saint Luke's Health System has probably one of the best benefits packages for a job that gets paid by the hour.

Cons

There's not a whole lot of room for advancement within the system aside from small but regular raises given you get a good performance review.

Advice to Management

There is way too much paper at a time when most hospitals are moving to electronic medical records. This is an area that can be easily improved on.

    Pros

For a select group of people there is a strong level of teamwork. There are some great people here who are forthcoming with their knowledge and experience.

    Cons

There is a lot of nepitism shown by managers. There is a lot of assuming with little question asking, the automatic assumption that something is being done wrong instead of simple inquiries. By individuals in management positions there is a general lack of respect for the work that is done by the front line staff. There is a lot of finger pointing at what has been done wrong and not enough positive acknowledgement.

    Advice to Management

Understand and know that many of the techs are educated individuals whom have a lot to offer who many times become discouraged and under appreciated for what they contribute to the lives of the children that are served. Many staff work additional hours but are treated as if something is owed to management. There are huge gaps in communication starting at the top and trinkling down.

    Pros

This is about St. Luke's South, in Overland Park. Mostly a good staff. Good benefits. A large health system so you can transfer. Good joint commission reviews.

    Cons

Some members of the management team are inexperienced. The few bad apples on staff are allowed to stay and they make everyone else's job harder. The don't put enough resources in to on the job training...usually they are training while they are short handed...because they have to train someone...I saw this happen in more than one department...so you end up feeling like you don't know what you are doing...cause you don't.

    Advice to Management

Follow through on suggestions given by employees. Don't pit your team members against each other.
