I worked at Saks Fifth Avenue full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Discounts & Good Benefits / Good Paid Time Off. I think the company has good intentions, but the politics are nearly impossible to navigate.

    Cons

Luxury retail (brick & mortar) is a dying industry. Hold on as long as you can! Good resume builder but hard to keep a job with this company unless you started ten years ago and have the clientele. Co-workers make it impossible for you to grow your business. Very political. Management disregards floor level politics in favor of veterans. Management does NOT like to get their hands dirty. You will be ABUSED by your co-workers if you work here and have no recourse. Corporate marketing is outdated and stuffy, not congruent with our times, or at least, behind the times. Very bland and "safe".

    Advice to Management

None. They know exactly what they are doing and what they are culpable for. They just do it anyway. When you work at Saks you spend a lot of time on the phone and quickly get to know your colleagues in other stores. All stores are the same. Same gripes everywhere.

I have been working at Saks Fifth Avenue full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nothing! It was all terrible!

    Cons

They treat their employees like slaves. They treat all support staff like second class citizens. They lied about what the job duties were.

    Advice to Management

Encourage the staff as a whole to work together. Pay more!
