I worked at Saks Fifth Avenue full-time

Pros

good company, CEO very smart

Cons

Lots of inner office drama and gossip, high turnover, people that are promoted aren't necessarily a perfect fit for the job, the facility is old, no kitchens or place to eat lunch, it smells kind of funky; takes a long time to get promoted

Advice to Management

Get a kitchen, seriously

  2. "A useful stepping stone in the world of retail; however, Off 5th Management a liability not asset to the company."

I have been working at Saks Fifth Avenue full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits for full time associates are quite good.

Off 5th is extremely flexable with schedules.

The opportuinity to expand your knowledge rest in the hands of the associate; but the company offers quite a few tools to help.

The selling culture allows you to be yourself and the customers notice when you are comfortable.

It is one of the BEST positions I have held in retail because of its selling culture.

    Cons

Middle management creates more issues then they solve.

Having multiple bosses creates confusion and stress.

Associates learn quickly that they must conform to the individual supervisors requirements which change daily according to who is on the floor and this leads to inconsistancy in service.

When work is not completed or completed correctly by merchandising team/management the burden of finishing/fixing it is on the Sales Associates.

Specialist compensation is well below the amount of work required of them.

    Very little room for advancement.

    Advice to Management

    Consistancy is much needed.
