Approves of CEO

Pros

Many national locations. Company is large, respected and has longevity. Forward thinking by improving it's systems and technology. Promotes from within.

Cons

Sometimes doesn't want to reinvest in it's locations. Becoming too "centralized". Taking the individuality out of it's stores. Want's talent but doesn't want to pay at a store level.

Advice to Management

Could be more receptive to stores suggestion/requests. Allow Corporate to promote local market "personality" in individual store locations. Become a bit more competitive in pay structure as it concerns to management.

    Pros

Great discounts on clothing, exceptional product information and training and employees are close.

    Cons

Management creates too many obstacles that are pitty. (Like no coffee on the sales floor - EVER!)

    Advice to Management

Take the slack from your superiors so your employees don't have too. It's your job!

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Fellow employees in the corporate office were generally pleasant and competent. In general, compensation and benefits are fair/good compared to other companies unless you're there for a long time - need to jump around in retail to get the larger salary increases. Saks has earned a solid reputation for itself as one of the top retailers in the country - gives a lot of credibility to any resume.

    Cons

The inefficient systems and an overly corporate/bureaucratic culture can make the job tedious at times. Limited opportunities as you climb up the ladder but Saks isn't alone there; politics play a role but again - could be worse. Hours can be long depending on your team/division.
