No opinion of CEO

Pros

great luxury brands, nice people to work with on floor, store hours are good for retail, decent discount.

Cons

senior mgmt plays favorites and it's very obvious, some dm's are very unapproachable/unfriendly/unhappy.

Advice to Management

some managers in the past have left and it was sad to see some leave. you could catch onto why they left, not being treated well by superiors was obvious. the butt kissers stay and are left alone.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

It was a showplace in its day. Visits were often fro corporate, their was an intensified trainign program. Promoting from within was the standard. Stores outside of NY were treated fairly and were viewed as other opporutnities to extend the benefits of shopping at Saks. Hand on Management and wonderful employee incentive programs

    Cons

Visits are non existant. Management is never around. Very little saleshelp. Standards in stores have gone down tremendouslly. Stores have selling areas closed of for lack of business and it just looks bad.

    Advice to Management

It would be nice to see upper management embrace the branch stores again and work out independent marekting issues to keep the tradition going. Also, they need to spend some money on sprucing up some of there doors as it really looks bad.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Great coworkers in a fun atmosphere. Pretty good commission checks. MNGT was very loose on letting you figure out new ways to sell and merchandise. They rewarding creativity.

    Cons

Constant sales goals that were many times unattainable. If something was wrong with a coworker, you had no way to report them to the point where they were never disciplined.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to better predict the market so you guys are not throwing extreme sales goals to your associates.
