Pros

Working for salesforce.com means you are participating the build-out of the next wave of computing. The product is startling in its capability, quality, technology and elegance. The culture is young, dynamic, can-do and constantly on the move - very innovative and always looking for the next place in the market to be. It's energizing. The location of the offices, in downtown San Francisco, make it a great place to work (contrast with the usual Silicon Valley bunker-like low-rise in an industrial park). I had highly flexible working arrangements (work from home, flexible hours) but I know that is not available to everybody.

Cons

A very young, aggressive, smart and energized workforce has its downside: intense politics. If you are not in the right place or plugged in with the right crowd, it's hard to get ahead. Socializing after work is important, and if you are not into that or can't because of a long commute, then you can't network. You may just end up left on the sidelines.

Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you are doing - your stock price reflects your success.

    Pros

The top reasons to work at salesforce.com are the people and the environment you work in. It is a very young and outgoing culture internally and it promotes a great camaraderie internally and outside of the company.

    Cons

As the company has begun to grow into a large Enterprise company there has been less of a focus on employee growth and more of a focus on company success. Internal promotion has become political and long-winded.

    Advice to Management

Invest more time ensuring your top performers are happy internally or the company will continue to lose strong assets to more alluring startups.

    Pros

Great culture, it's a very young/energetic company that is constantly growing/changing. The products have consistently been #1 in the market. We have been the industry leader for 8 years. They have been vigilant about hiring highly qualified employees who are also outgoing and fun to work with. They have spent the money to keep our headquarters in downtown San Francisco.

    Cons

There are some things that happen when you grow too quickly, some structure has been lacking but at least it is always acknowledged and worked on. For example, it took them a while to fine tune some the HR applications that we use internally.

    Advice to Management

Be as concerned with employee success as you are with customer success.
