I have been working at Salvation Army full-time

Pros

Positive is working for help alot of people in unfortunate financial situations.

Cons –

Cons

The Salvation Army treats their employees like crap. They do not properly train any employees, they just care about the officers and themselves.

Advice to Management

Get some training in management and common sense. Management lacks education, basic reading and writing skills, I had to show several people in upper management how to open their emails and save a word document and to hit a dame submit button on their computers.

I worked at Salvation Army full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great working with people who have been through the rehab program and have turned their lives around. You're surrounded by miracles all day long.

    Cons

Tremendous tension and subtle annimosity between "Army" and non-Army. The Offices consider themselves elite, priveledged, and non-Army personnel are treated like a necessary evil. This is most noticable in how benefits are structured. Also the bureaucracy of working with people with no business skills or experience having to approve everything can be extremely frustrating. The approval process is archaic.

    Advice to Management

Officers/Ministers should stick to ministry and let the business people run the business.
