I worked at Salvation Army full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Provides for experience in a religious environment in giving a hand up to those in need.

Cons

Many policies and procedures which restrict local implementation of programs and services.

Advice to Management

Consider geographic challenges of policies, personal growth of staff, and competitive salary structure.

I worked at Salvation Army part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Salvation Army does a lot of things to help people. The offer food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas, they offer back to school assistance including clothes and book bags and toys at Christmas.

    Cons

Communication was not very important when I was working there. Things would happen and no one would know anything nor would there be any investigation. People have lost jobs over misunderstandings just because upper management would not investigate.

    Advice to Management

Before any decisions are made, investigate. Stop going on word of mouth. Be as loyal to your employees as you want them to be to you!!

I worked at Salvation Army part-time

    Pros

love the staff ive seen / worked with. good prices, doing good things to help others and helping the children. Love that its non profit also.

    Cons

having a discriminating boss in a discriminating environment, managers here are more or less bullies. dont get recognition for hard work. Watching staff get fired too easily. work just felt uncomfortable

    Advice to Management

Only a few stores i could care less for. but who is being hired as a manager should be considered strongly. A company which has this high image to uphold and looked up to.. needs to have a more accepting feel and welcome everyone in. proud of the cause not the management.
