I worked at Sam's Club full-time

Pros

Great growth potential if you are willing to work hard and want to learn. Everything is earned. Great relationships built with peers and within the local communities that you work.

Cons

Culture of the company is becoming blurred the further they expand and the further they get away from Mr. Sams teachings.

Advice to Management

Reconnect with the culture that made your company great. Figure out how to still maintain the "small" company feel even as you get even larger.

I have been working at Sam's Club part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Sam's Share is given annually, coworkers are friendly and professional, the customers are pleasant most of the time, and at times it seems like a small, local grocery store that takes care of its customers.

    Cons

Absolutely miserable job if you're a cashier. Unprofessional management and no incentive for the amount of pressure they put on you to sell Plus memberships and credit lines. They give balloons for each renewal or Plus you sell, then you're required to give them back at the end of the day. They see their cashiers as numbers. Every week they tell you what you do wrong and if you don't improve they talk to you rudely. Will not transfer you to another department if you don't succeed at selling memberships. Stressful, low pay for the work administered, constant lifting, and overall a miserable experience.

    Advice to Management

At least give your cashiers incentive for selling your scam Plus membership that isn't demeaning or childlike. When someone does a good job, don't ignore their efforts and appreciate their hard work. Talk to your cashiers and get to the bottom of why they're not selling to your standards instead of assuming they don't care and write them off as worthless to the company. Become professional and treat your cashiers as people.

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time

    Pros

always looking for new blood, a good job to spring board from to get retail management expierence great for single people

    Cons

50 -60 hours a week a must, pay raises are a joke, long term associates are not appreciated nor looked out for. Not good for any one who wants to spend time with family

    Advice to Management

Career Opportunites are ok because they fire management so fast it will make your head spin. Coming up from an hourly position I've seen a lot of good people abused and miss out on family opportunites
