I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

My son was able to recieve a 13,000 scholarship for college because I work for Sam's Club. There are many benefits with working at Sam's Club. Plus it is a company that will allow you to grow as far as you want. Also it can be a place for long-term employment. I have been with this company now for 18 wonderful years. No regrets. :)

Cons

Not being able to have a set schedule, but that's okay.

Advice to Management

Always cherish those you have working with you, always be fair, and listen to what they have to say. Don't be afraid to admitt when you make a mistake. Always show the most respect for each indiviual. Communicate with everyone that is around you. And remember the 10- foot rule. These are the basic.:)

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

some clubs offer a $2-$3 differential for working in Fresh areas

    Cons

cutting part timers hours and even asking full timers to cut hours to save on payroll/wages, poor/expensive health insurance, you have to have a fully open availability even if you are part time or you will not be scheduled many hours because of new 'member needs' scheduling system, no set schedule, hard to get any vacation time approved, inexperienced management, poor pay and yearly raises, they send associates out to businesses and even houses to ask people to sign up for a sams club membership, low morale.

    Advice to Management

be more sympathetic to your associates needs, work with your associates to get a better understanding of what they do and how to do it. teach and train your associates so they can grow with the company

I have been working at Sam's Club part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay is usually above the minimum wage starting which is really good. As long as you do your job you "should" be ok. Tire department is known as a safe zone for the most part since most managers don't bother too much with the tire department. Cashiers tend to be the ones that everyone is after since they are required to get members to upgrade their memberships.

    Cons

There are times when management gets on your case over little issues in the tire department. If you are on the floor expect way more involvement with management. For full timers the job pays very well but if your part time there is a risk of random hour cuts resulting in 30 hrs one week and 15 hours another. Its also very hard to call out sick even when policy tells you to not come in if your ill.
