No opinion of CEO

I worked at Sanofi-Aventis full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good benefits.
Internal self driven training available for development.
Career development if you have the stomach for office politics...unless you are a lab rat (technical skills are not as valued as management skills)

Cons

Poor leadership.
Poor communication with employees.
No loyalty to employees.
Employees were expected to "Get it done" without proper resources or support.
Expected to work weekends, overtime, and holidays while management has three day weekends.

Advice to Management

The small biotech I worked for was acquired by Sanofi. At first there was little change and then the large corporate attitude took over. Management meetings were always catered while lab employees are fighting over how much of the 2% salary increase we could manage. If management wants the respect of the employees then they need to be seen as the hardest workers not the best politicians.

I have been working at Sanofi-Aventis full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Salary, company car. The company values apply to some employees but not all. Training methodology changes with the wind. The training could be helpful for a different type of sales for employees who leave or get axed from the company.

    Cons

Man culture for sure. Unrealistic role playing till you want to throw-up. Some very lousy managers who only respect those reps that follow their lead no matter how bad the mangers sales techniques maybe.

    Advice to Management

Let the reps do their job, cut down on the role-play phony scenarios, the ride alongs with experienced reps that are bring home the bacon for you...LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!!!!!!

I worked at Sanofi-Aventis as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people at Sanofi were so nice and helpful. I forgot what it was like to work for a company like that. It is what companies used to be like. Would have loved to have been hired by them.

    Cons

They don't like to hire their contractors. They would rather keep a contractor on the books for years rather than hire them. If you need them for years it is obvious their is a business need.

    Advice to Management

Keep in touch with your employees. Leadership tends to have a lacking in this field.
