Pros

There are still some good people there, but more and more leaving all the time. Good place to develop life-long friendships.

Cons

Just is not the place it used to be. Employees have no confidence in new leadership. Opportunities for growth are missing because the business is contracting.

Advice to Management

Bring back the folksy leadership that motivated employees because they knew management cared. Replace unpopular top managers and let the rank and file employees know that everyone is accountable.

I worked at Sauder Woodworking full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Start out pay and benefits are good now.

    Cons

If you have worked there before they raised the start out pay then new employees are walking in the door making what it took you years to make.

    Advice to Management

Be fair to the employees that's been working for you for years.

I have been working at Sauder Woodworking full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company provides consistent full-time hours (40 per week), diversity recruitment, paid time off, & holiday pay. The work schedule is fairly consistent and revolves around a three shift schedule.

    Cons

The general compensation rate is lower than the cost of living for the area (About $15 per hour), and there is not a lot of upward mobility within the company. Management tends to treat employees as an asset rather than as a valuable individual, and does little to provide for personnel enrichment and development. Most of the company policies are adhered to loosely, omitted, or exist orally only. The company struggles to achieve profitability year after year, often having a profit margin of less than 3 percent annually.
