I have been working at Schneider Electric full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Benefits are good, matching of your contributions to 401K, option to buy SE stock at a discounted price, Blue Cross/Blue Shield healthcare, etc.

Cons

Easy to get lost in a huge corporation. As with most large corps., there's a lot of paperwork and meetings that waste time.

I worked at Schneider Electric as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Very family and community oriented company. The company and employees are involved in providing community services and programs. Have very well established career paths for permanent employees.

    Cons

The treatment of contractors needs to improve when contractors are working to join the company. Management needs to review internal processes to improve operations and project development.

    Advice to Management

Work with contractors more that are pursuing permanent opportunity with the company.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Schneider Electric full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Potentially clear cut path for advancement, potential for good total target compensation if you blow out your quota because of accelerators. If you miss your quota however, base pay is abysmal. Tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

Micromanagement to the nth degree. An inability of "yes-men" middle managers to step up and speak out when something is wrong ethically or business process wise. A lack of appreciation for the sheer volume of work and stress undertaken by their subordinate inside sales reps. Endless new initiatives that never drive any clear result other than to pad the managers' resumes. Favoritism and politics either hurt you or help you. Blindness on the part of management to recognize the hemorrhaging of talent due to mistreatment, underappreciation, underpayment, and an unfair, political culture. Turnover is accelerating at all levels of sales and spreading to other departments.

    Advice to Management

Realize that when the economy turns around, you will have a mass exodus. No longer will you be able to bully employees knowing there is an endless supplies of new suckers. Take some organizational behavior 101 courses to learn how to treat people.
