Pros

Recognises 'work-life' balance, generally accepting if needing time off. Work load rarely excessive.

Cons

Care required in the position selected. The promotion criteria are based on generic competencies and you need to provide good evidence of work experience in your current position to reach the interview stage of selection process, experience gained in previous employment is often ignored. You must have the support of your manager to gain the work experience required and a promotion plan. It is very easy to be pigeon-holed. Occasional incidents of ideas being recycled by management as their own without any acceptance of their origin, although this could be just an individual.

Advice to Management

Visibility! Casual drop ins don't constitute visibility. Despite the same findings from several employee surveys the senior management are still invisible and contact is very limited outside of your immediate pay band or work group.
