Pros

Flexible scheduling most of the time
Close to home
Coworkers for the most part are pretty awesome
Relatively easy work

I didn't mind working at Sears while I was in school. When I graduated and started working regularly while looking for full time employment is when I really started to see the major faults.

Cons

Terrible communication
Hardly any advancement opportunities
No raises - I worked there for 5 years and got one raise because I switched departments and threatened to leave
Metrics and goals are unrealistic
Terrible pay
Slow and unreliable archaic technology
Very boring and dull work

In the Lands End department, we pretty much had to do everything ourselves since nobody in the rest of the store wanted to help us ever. I constantly got frustrated with the fact that I was constantly cleaning up after my coworkers whether it was cleaning up their mistakes or literally cleaning up after them trying to avoid any potential security issues and customer accidents. The department was constantly reminded that we were not team players with the rest of the store meanwhile we were making our sales goals everyday. They should have been catering to us instead they made working there a living hell everyday.

Advice to Management

Sears needs to seriously rework where their focus is. They should be focusing on customers not on rewards and credit cards. They need to start caring about their employees as well. We are on the front line and making money after all.
