I have been working at Sears part-time

Pros

I loved working in the office. It was fast paced, but not overwhelming, challenging, but not too much. I felt like I had responsibility as an office associate.

Cons

I hated being on the floor. I've been a merchandising associate and a cashier and those positions are awful. They never pay more than minimum wage and the pay has been frozen for a few years. I only made minimum as an office associate too.

I worked at Sears full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good first job. Got me more confident with approaching others. Satisfying feeling when helping others.

    Cons

Weak pay. Always trying to maximize profits without paying employees. Managers on your case at all times for little mundane things. Dying company.

    Advice to Management

Get yourselves all new jobs before Sears goes in the stink.

I have been working at Sears part-time

    Pros

My manager was very flexible with scheduling.

    Cons

Massive, unnecessary, knee-jerk cuts in hours. Absolutely no raises. The shipping side was poorly coordinated; we received way too much product and our warehouse was swamped. Severely understaffed, which combined with the hour cuts and excessive volume of incoming product, furthered the amount of time we were behind. The management imposed unrealistic goals.
Lazy employees couldn't be fired, and they had no motivation to work given the conditions. I worked harder than some full-time employees, and actually put in more hours per week when we weren't under the cuts, yet I was kept at part-time for budgeting reasons. I often had to cover for coworkers' shortcomings.
The facility was very subpar; the roof leaked catastrophically for months before it was fixed. Sears should thank their lucky stars that OSHA never saw the condition of the store the few times it flooded from the rain.

    Advice to Management

People don't work hard for a pat on the back. They work hard for money.
