I worked at Sears part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

-Never had an issue with getting hours
- Working with customers was usually a positive experience
- Recognition for achieving goals was normal

Cons

- Numbers is everything to this company. Credit apps and protection agreements are more important than Customer Service & Satisfaction.
- Not achieving your goals would lead to your hours being cut.
- Benefits weren't great

Advice to Management

When you have to sell side profit-rich items to make any money as a retailer, you obviously are in deep trouble.

I have been working at Sears full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pays management ok. Benefits are ok

    Cons

Registers are always break down especially during peak time.

    Advice to Management

Invest in some new equipment...registers, handhelds. You expect more from a store but you cannot provide the necessary tools to get the job done. You can't force a customer to apply for a credit card or sign up for the SYWR program.

"Political, dysfunctional and driven by the stated mission of: "make more money" as opposed to "thrill our customers.""

I worked at Sears full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are some smart people there. Some. And there are some really good people, too.

    Cons

Horrible benefits. Unhealthy work/life balance. Lack of long-term vision at the Senior Leadership level. Perpetual Whitewater. Limited career advancement opportunities (unless you're a part of the online/digital team.)

    Advice to Management

Find the courage to tell the emperor he's not wearing any clothes. The next Amazon? Good luck. Amazon is a great experience driven by what is best for consumers. Sears is a bad experience driven by what is best for Eddie.
