I have been working at Sears part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Excellent opportunities for commission with the $2 (sometimes $4) for credit apps
Friendly staff with whom I've become lifetime friends
Flexible schedules that work around my schoolwork and extracurriculars

Cons

Credit meetings get a little intense!

I have been working at Sears full-time

    Pros

You're able to gain experience with handling cash and checks, while also learning a lot about the chores of within the office.
You're able to take an inside look at what the managers do on a daily basis and work with them.
Also, you're chances of getting a promotion are higer (since you mostly work with the managers and leads) and you'll know of all positions available within the store.
You don't have to deal with as many customers as the cashiers, sales team, or managers. (Big bonus)

    Cons

The pay is not the best, although it's somewhat better than being a cashier since there's no harassment from the cashier lead/managers to get credits and SYWR.

    Pros

Managers worked their butts off for their employees, really put their heart in it.
Commissioned positions allowed for 'unlimited' pay.

    Cons

Corporate structure pushed very, very hard to meet their sales and attachment goals. Their focus was very clearly on the numbers, not the customer. It handicapped employees into dogging their customers with questions and pushing products that were not wanted. The 'checkout' experience ended up being a 5-10 minute monologue where employees were required to push products, credit cards, email capture, protection plans, attachments, delivery, installations, etc.

    Advice to Management

Give the customer what they want: an informed, non-pushy shopping experience!
