I have been working at Sears part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

It is up to you how much money you'll make. Have to be great with customer service and have to love selling products.

Cons

The only cons is that its part time. No benefits for part time employees. Nothing to outrageous.

I have been working at Sears full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Not many positive things to say about working at Sears besides a few good coworkers and the employee discount.

    Cons

Terrible management from store level to corporate. Nobody is REALLY paying attention to the real reasons why Sears is failing. The company is seriously falling apart so money is tight. Nobody gets raises, seniored higher paid employees are let go, lazy part timers refuse to help out, customers are given plenty of reasons to complain, corporate visitors hardly have anything good to say and make the staff feel like their hard work is uselss.

    Advice to Management

If everyone must treat customers like gold, the management should treat their good, hard working staff the same way. Also, pay attention to HOW Sears is losing money. Printing a huge stack of sale signs that go right to the trash, having "big" sales and not advertising it, not holding staff accountable for attendance, sales metrics, task performance.

I have been working at Sears full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible Scheduling, easy to get hired. Compared to other retailers you don't have to work many overnights or start unreasonably early.

    Cons

Long hours and low pay. There was a lot expected from associates but not necessarily fair compensation. They did not value loyalty and would often go with an outside hire instead of promoting within. They also had a lot of difficulty enforcing store policies or making customers aware of change. As a company they also push attachments and credit cards and associates who don't perform in those categories are punished.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time developing associates and teamwork.
