I worked at Sears part-time (More than a year)

Pros

flexible schedule, great coworkers, extensive training, knowledgeable managers.

Cons

Base plus commission. When its slow your just getting your base pay.

Advice to Management

Great company. Advertising more about products would help.

I have been working at Sears (More than 10 years)

    Pros

At one point in my tenure I worked for some good managers who have since moved on

    Cons

Sears is an extremely disorganized organization. The majority of the competent leaders have moved on as I know many more are. The benefits are horrible and ridiculously expensive. When the company ceased their pensions and stopped giving merit increases about 5 years ago, all started going downhill.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time with the leaders who "touch" the customer more to learn what really is going on.

I worked at Sears part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

20% Employee Discount and my management was fairly flexible with my hours at the time

    Cons

Horrible turn-over rate for most positions (especially cashiers), managers care more about pushing Sears cards down the customers throat than providing good customer service, they have unreal expectations of employees for such a poor paying job, and don't expecting raises considering I ended a 7 year run at the company making only minimum wage.

    Advice to Management

If you want your employees to put in good quality work then treat them with respect and don't shove unreal expectations down their throat, otherwise don't wonder why your company is failing and you can't keep an employee past a month. Give recognition where it is deserved.
