I have been working at Sears part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Commission sales, the potential to make decent money, flexibility with hours, closed on Christmas

Cons

Management is very unorganized (this is seen nationwide), corporate policies do not make sense and are seriously detrimental for employees and members, raises do not exist, absolutely no appreciation for their employees, district managers and regional managers seem to enjoy hiring ruthless managers; this seems to be corporate policy.

Advice to Management

Please, if upper management does care at all for their employees then please review your store management. The store management I've dealt with unprofessional, disrespectful and ruthless. Customers are not happy with corporate policies either, especially with the use of iPADs. All of us at the store agree that the job has the potential to be great but it is ruined by corporate policy and the rudeness of store management.

I have been working at Sears part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

nice coworkers for the most part

    Cons

training, recognition, balance of responsibility. slackers abound, effort is not recognized.

    Advice to Management

Set standards for all training, job accountability. Give recognition via reviews/raises for maintaining those job standards which will keep your good employee efforts and deter the complacency. Update technology across the board. Set and FOLLOW consistent policy for coupon use and returns this will avoid cashiers looking foolish when a customer insists on speaking to manager after manager just to get their unreasonable return. Unreasonable is just that and nonreturnable. This will be appreciated by the employee, understood by the reasonable shopper and the unreasonable shopper can go somewhere else to steal. Keeping low-grade and inconsistent standards leaves an inevitable poor shopping/working experience for everyone.
