I worked at Sears full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent starting salary in management. Good name brand, especially craftsman products.

    Cons

Leadership is so out of touch, especially compared to other major retailers.
Ownership is a holding company, they do not know how to run a large retailer.
    Management training is severely lacking

    Advice to Management

Ownership needs to sell to a group who knows how to properly manage a large retailer! An ex US Navy Jet Fighter Pilot is CEO of Sears for goodness sakes! The man had awesome experience, for wartime considerations! But not for leading a dying retailer back to the promised land. He was an absolute joke of a leader when I met him. So disappointing to see and hear his lack of vision and clarity on the industry and how to revive Sears.

I worked at Sears full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to learn how to work in a bureaucratic mess.

    Cons

The culture at corporate headquarters is toxic. Good people in the ranks being knocked around every day. Lots of fire fighting and constant scrambling.
