Positive Outlook

I have been working at Sears full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores is a relatively "new" company that spun off from Sears Holdings Corporation in 2012. It is a company that more closely resembles the values and customer focus that Sears & Roebuck originally stood for and will be the future of the brand. This is a company that I would definitely recommend as both an employee and a customer.

Cons

The downside from the spin off is that there are too many upper management jumps from Sears Holdings who are bringing what has turned that company sour over to the other side.

Advice to Management

Embody what made Sears & Roebuck a great company (before the SHC times) and lead the great name of Sears into the future.

I have been working at Sears part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employees are great. Store is huge. Hours are basic. Dres code simple. Very easy to get hired as a cashier

    Cons

Not alot of hours given. Management has favorites, only make 8 per hour as cashier. Force you to sale credit cards to customer. Not alot of Cashier assistance. Hire to many people at a time so many people get less hours

    Advice to Management

    Selling credit cards isn't easy

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, supportive store, and assistant manager.

    Cons

After about six months I have still never recived a correct pay check, they pay 4.50 base plus commission.

the commission 0.75 and 6.5 so for every 100.00 of an aplicable sale you revive 75 cents and for every protection agreement you get 6.50. The problem is the items are so reduced the "PA" is insane. Example 789 refrigerator and a 599 PA.

The issue with this is that you lose the little hours you get if you're not selling PA's, so people use scare tactics to sell them.

There is roughly about 8 hours of training before you are put on the floor with no product knowledge, and if you need a manager they are no place to be found.

    Advice to Management

Fire your payroll staff and get people who can do their job.
