Pros

The company's values and mission are excellent. Passion for patients appears to be real, not just a slogan. Collaboration and teamwork are encouraged.

Cons

Lack of flexibility regarding telecommuting. No retirement options as are available at other biotechs. Decision-making is not transparent -- many behind closed doors.

Advice to Management

Ask worker bees who will be affected for input when planning and making decisions. Provide more training for middle level managers -- many are not as supportive of direct reports as they could be.

I have been working at Seattle Genetics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people with great company vision and purpose. Lots of smart people and fortunately without the ego.

    Cons

Your experience here will depend on your manager, what you make of it and how good of a relationship you have with your boss. They ultimately control your promotion, raises and whether your ideas are supported. IT department is constantly behind on technology. I think my operating system is at least a few generations behind.

    Advice to Management

Give middle managers more training. IT needs to keep up with technology. Be more progressive with benefits, on par with local companies like Amazon and Microsoft. Better paternity leave. Get more involved with community like sponsor volunteer programs.
