Pros
Pay/PTO now good. Work at home. Manageable workload.
Cons
Nothing you do; no amount of experience you have is going to mean anything. Focus is solely on making sure the numbers look good whether they are actually indicative of quality or not. This is true at any level. Doing the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing is not a thing. Bonuses/raises are next to nothing (and have been for many many many years). Competence is rewarded with more work. Incompetence is rewarded with a promotion and ability to blunder through work that will eventually have to be done by someone that is actually competent. A lot of corporate platitudes, but there should be no expectation of loyalty (unless related to IA-based chairman) - employs receive no profit sharing or sense that they actually matter beyond being a chair-filler. Very low starting wages and even less training/education completed by people that were trained by people whole were trained by people who also were not trained.
My co-workers are nice and are willing to help. It's nice to work where your co-workers are willing to help each other out.
My direct manager is very helpful. The office manager is okay.
It's a good introduction to claim handling. As mentioned, you will get assistance if needed, and you don't feel too bad asking for help.
There are opportunities to get promoted, but you do have to put work in to get noticed. Upper management isn't going to know what you're doing at all times.
Plenty of time off is allowed, which is great. If you work here, once you're able to, take time off. You will need it.
Cons
Turnover rate is HIGH. It's not unusual to see people stay here only a few months (if that) before they leave. Client at this office is demanding, perhaps more so than other accounts.
Pay can be a lot better. For adjusters it probably is, but if you are a claims Assistant, you're getting paid maybe $10/hr less, give or take.
Ultimately, you feel like another spoke in the wheel, and you do know you can be replaced. The high turnover rate kind of proves that.
Can be very stressful, so be aware.
