Pros

Excellent 401k with 100% matching and a pension plan

Cons

Incompetent management in Scottsdale and outdated software. The management style is to micro manage every aspect of the job and to attempt to have metrics for everything. With the exception of a few individuals, there is a high turn over rate of the claim representatives.

Advice to Management

The nice folks in Stevens Point, Wisconsin should send some of their MBA type claims professionals out to replace the management in Scottsdale. Also,consider upgrading to more current software that is more efficient in streamlining the claims handling process.

    Compay Car Fuel and auto Insurance Paid

    Cons

    Managment is poor. Training is poor. Upper managment is incompetent. CEO Dale Shuh is out of touch with the industry. He sees the sales force as a liability.
    Highly overpriced and not competitive. High employee turnover leads to distrust in the market place. No longer John Deere friendly. Don't waste your time working for Dealer Operations in Iowa.

    Support your sales force.

    Sentry Insurance is very stable and you can count on it being there for the long term future.

    Cons

    Communication is often incomplete and not timely. Parts of the organization are slow to change to meet customer expectations.

    Advice to Management

    Old school management techniques need to be replaced with more effective management styles. Communication effectiveness and consistency varies widely from manager to manager and VP to VP.
