I have been working at ServiceMaster full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

There are new opportunities for the right skill sets.
Things do not stay the same - company is always in motion
The company's services seem to be fairly recession proof as they target customers with home services needs such as pest control, lawn care, disaster restoration, home warranty and cleaning.
The company seems on the verge of big growth and has taken strides to be ready for an economic up-turn.

Cons

Company seems bent toward hiring from the outside rather than promoting internally.
The culture of change can be a tough adjustment for some people.
The business lines seem towered rather than eager to work collaboratively.

Advice to Management

Place a greater emphasis and resources toward developing your people and helping them grow within the organization.

    Pros

    Support/ Admin staff & Technicians are good people. Sales commission is very good.

    Cons

    The work is seasonal, makes health insurance impossible in the off season. Hard on a family/ social life, long hours.

    Advice to Management

    People management is woefully outdated, functions largely on derision and belittlement of employees "because it's always been done that way".
