Pros

Big emphasis on the learning & development of employees.
Great culture.
Work life balance is encouraged and does exist.
Good benefits - access to gym, counselling and end of trip facilities.

Cons

Big company so a lot of red tape to get around in order to get things done.

Advice to Management

If you're trying to cut costs, get rid of the business class flying.

I worked at Shell as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Mostly technical, question focused on execution of the projects in the plant.

    Cons

Contract positions are fragile, as Shell is a huge company with internal applicants, or completion/cancellation of projects in one part of the world and moving people to other branches.

    Advice to Management

Make sure contract people are treated as others.

I have been working at Shell as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefit of working from home was advantageous on Fridays. There are training programs in house for you to develop and they take you away for a grand dinner for your "welcome induction"

    Cons

My "buddy" (who is assigned to you) was very cutting and did not know how to communicate sometimes. This may be due to him being originally from another country. It is a high pressurised environment compared to previous companies I have worked at.

I don't think the assessment process at the end of the internship is fair and useful.

    Advice to Management

Rethink assessment process within the internship, in addition to moving teams midway to gain further experience would be better.
