I worked at Sherwin-Williams full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Great pay an excellent benefits. Training gave tons of help in aiding customers with paint problems/solutions.

Cons

Retail hours stink when you have a family and they are open in Sundays. It can be a tough position for a female since most customers are contractors(men) and they don't trust your expertise.

Advice to Management

Encourage woman to apply!

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for and you can move up quickly in a large district. Fair Salary and bonuses. Work/Life is great if you're a manager. Make your own schedule. A lot of vacation if you have been there a while.

    Cons

Sometimes playing the corporate game gets in the way of your job.

    Advice to Management

Listen to you managers and give them some slack to be able to do their job.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay
    Benefits
Opportunity to advance if you kiss ass from day 1

    Cons

Promotions are solely based on popularity and ass kissing of the DM, not hard work, seniority or knowledge
Dealing with uneducated blue collar painters all day
Some of the most stupid customers I have ever had to deal with
Men are sexist and unwilling to take women seriously
Taking out trash, filling tinter, tinting stinky lacquer and chemical coatings, blue collar work/retail that requires a college degree
You are expected to kiss everyone's a** even though they treat you like sh*t
Sexual Harrassment, Managers get away with murder without consequences
Always getting calls when not at work because the store is a complete disaster, so hard to keep good employees because they pay part-time employees crap and there is constant turnover
Expected to learn a lot and take on a lot of responsibility while upper management does "sales calls"aka lunch and drinks with customers

    Advice to Management

Maybe if you would give our poor part-timers decent pay and hours we would not have constant turn over
Start valuing seniority, work ethic, and knowledge that stop with this ridiculous popularity contest. One person should not be charge of hiring for the entire district, there should be group interviews. Our DM is giving out jobs to people that do not deserve them months before the jobs are even open.
