    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

401k match and salaries are the only thing to come for. I am very proud to have met and worked with everyone at my level.

    Cons

Communication and culture are among the worst I've experienced. There is a huge accountability gap in middle/upper management. Our local group of 8 I.C.'s had 6 managers, 5 of whom were associate director and director. The mid level management at Shire is engaged in empire building

    Advice to Management

One could offer no advice that would be accepted. This is due to the accountability gap in mid level management, where people are promoted for rubbing elbows correctly. There are many 'Yertle the Turtles' that need dismissing.

  2. "a mixed bag - great pay, bonuses and 401k match, but horrible work-life balance"

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

great starting salary, stock purchase program, 401k match, and yearly bonuses. Most people are pleasant to work with

    Cons

time off is granted grudgingly. Management dictates timelines that middle managers implement by "asking" their staff to work longer hours. Work-life balance is sorely lacking

Directors and management positions not necessarily staffed with the right people which may explain the mixed strategic moves they've made

    Advice to Management

Re-org and centralize as necessary and distribute headcount better. I see QC and Mfg struggling, while other orgs are decentralized and duplication of effort. Understand that lean does not necessarily mean understaffed - centralize shared services, and redistribute redundant resources from that reorg as more worker bees for the groups that need it (or redistribute headcounts through attrition)
