Pros

You get paid alright, but it's not worth being treated like you have no clue, when it's actually your manager who has no idea what's going on.

Cons

The directors are completely confused. They are constantly micro managing and from a place of concept deficit. I'm not sure why the managers are considered managers, they make the jobs twice as challenging to complete, pretending they know everything and not drawing on their teams strengths. Projects never have reasonable time frames.

Pros

As mentioned, the funding partners have deep pockets to invest and keep shomi afloat. Things have improved slightly since the managers and directors have been called out for the lack of skill and tact. The company has begun to recognize the toxic leaders and have had sessions to try to help eradicate their poor behaviour.

Cons

Directors and managers have hidden agendas to talk big in order to get their bonuses and claim to be experts when they're not. They hire their friends to be managers and directors so that they can keep their little clique together and try to exert total control. I feel sad when I see directors treating staff poorly, in my career this is the first time I've encountered such a unprofessional group of directors and managers since I worked in restaurants as a student.

Pros

Fast paced environment investing big in technology and agile. Everyone working together towards a common goal. We really believe in doing the right thing and give the customer the best. Huge changes in the last year in technology and people as it moved from being a Rogers department to a full independent company. A lot of new blood with cool and funky ideas, and a few exits of folks that were more comfortable with being Rogers type employees instead of a startup culture that management is trying to create and evolve to. Management willing to invest in new technologies. New agile culture finally giving employee space to shine. Marketing and content is awesome. Worked a few years in the media industry and never seen this kind of investment in content and marketing. They are serious about winning the market.

Cons

More focus required. The pace can be a little crazy. Too many priorities when you are trying to compete against Netflix, Cravetv, and a lot of newcomers in over the top world. Technology started in the wrong side but finally moving to a healthy state. Few choices made years ago that did not work properly and now need to be changed due to scale and quality issues. There is a lot of work in tech, more than we have hands for.
