Pros

Interesting travel opportunities if you push for them.
Resonable range of work available.
Mostly, very nice genuinely helpful people.
Next to Bournemouth airport - so you can often watch the red arrows!
A wealth of knowledgable senior design engineers who are always happy to help when needed

Cons

No obvious career progression.
A lack of feedback on a job done well.
Expectation of young design engineers to do the most uninspiring work for years.
Linked closely to the global steel and aluminium industry. So watch out for your job in the ressession.

Advice to Management

Treat employees as valuable assets with good ideas not robots.
Provide a clear career direction for talented employees - do not keep them down or they will leave you.

    Pros

Great workplace with nice and talented people. The projects tend to be challenging and different from each other, besides that the employees have the opportunity to work on different areas, from automation and control to basic engineering to software development. Besides that, there is a lot of space to people innovate and try new ways of working, it is encouraged by the company directors.

    Cons

The entry level salary of a junior engineer is not much different from the average salary of a senior engineering which is not much different from the average salary of a team leader, but the responsibilities are very different. Other downside is that the number of employees grown up too much in the last years (about three times in the last two years), so there are few old employees with the great spirit of the company to lead the new employees.

    Advice to Management

Improve the hiring process (higher standards as in the beginning of the company) and improve the feedback/compensation process so that the best people be recognized and compensated for bringing more value to the company. And, of course, continue to take care of the employees, motivate people and proportionate a great work place, because this is a fantastic aspect of the company.
