Approves of CEO

I have been working at Siemens as an intern (More than a year)

Pros

- they treat interns like full-time employee, not an intern
- friendly work environment
- great networking opportunities
- intern-specific events

Cons

- inconsistent management styles
- you have to network, otherwise you won't find a job after internship is over
- your intern experience depends on the type of manager you have

Advice to Management

Keep your interns involved in as many group projects and meetings you are involved in as possible. It helps interns get noticed.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Good Medical Benefits.
Front-line workers and engineers generally great collegues

    Cons

Has a bad rep at local colleges so recent grads don't apply.
HR often hires people who can BS them.
No plan for professional development. Their Performance Management plan is a joke, and managers typically don't send employees for training and don't clearly define what is needed to move up to the next level.
Engineer attrition is approx 50% per year.
Recent reorgs in the past few years have left employees disoriented. Many profit centers internally that continually fight. Very little internal cooperation between business managers.
Pay scales are approx 20% below Atlanta average. Once hired, raises are almost nonexistent.
Majority of internal movement is lateral.
If you want to look back on 10 wasted years of your career, this is the place.

    Advice to Management

    Take employee surveys seriously.
Put forth programs for employee ideas that go beyond cost cutting. Many times, improving product and customer service requires an increase in cost in the short term.
Put forth a concise, step-by-step plan for PM@Siemens that people can follow, as though they were going for an MBA.

I have been working at Siemens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a big company and I have not seen any layoffs since 7 years. It is possible to move from one department to other. Diversity is really good.

    Cons

No growth in the career. Lot of old people and young people also become old people soon after they take the position in the company. Lot of politics and routine work.
