I have been working at Simon Fraser University full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

SFU provides development of skills and education while working. They are supportive in the bolstering of individual human capital through the numerous benefit programs. Work life balance is also a strong value promoted by the University.

Cons

As a public institution bureaucracy is a strong limiting factor to adaptation to external threats. It is also slow in properly identifying it's on strengths and weaknesses in the academic realm.

Advice to Management

Experience is important however new and fresh ideas may be more beneficial for future growth. Political decisions that pan out poorly should not be repeated due to clout.
