I have been working at Singapore Polytechnic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good perks and benefits. Work life balance is encouraged. A lot activities to encourage team building team learning. Good place to start your career (for non-academic roles), or if you want an easy life (as a lecturer).

    Cons

Some directors don't know how to manage their staff, and some are not even clear about the expectations of their employees. A lot of empty promises made. Growth and career advancement within the company is slow because they view your worth according to academic qualifications.

    Advice to Management

Get bosses who are competent and not just there to collect a pay cheque.

I have been working at Singapore Polytechnic full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Statutory board. Follows the public sector bonuses. Work-life balance.

    Cons

As with some branches of the public sectors, there are old-timers who have been working for xx number of years. They are more resistant to changes and have certain habits that may be undesirable.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what the staff are doing. Being able to work for many years doing the same thing may not mean that the work is good.
