Pros

Top management is outstanding -- watch and learn! If you "make your numbers" in services, they leave you alone. If you're in service delivery (i.e. field engineer), your manager probably won't care much about what hours you work (that is, you can and will work 90 hour weeks and 5 hour weeks) -- just build your reputation for getting the job done, on time and on budget without customers complaining and you're all set. NB: Sirius is a business -- carry your load or you won't last. Some like that, others don't.

Cons

This is subjective. I rather like working hard, so have no complaints with big hours (although family and friends hate it) -- your mileage may vary. "Promotions" for field engineers don't exist. Frequently you have to "implement" a "solution" that has been sold to the client, but have to reverse-engineer the design because there's little or design data carried forward from the sales side to the services side. Each presales person seems to have his own "rules of thumb" that they use to approximate what the client might actually need. Sometimes the actual requirements are outside the use-cases served by the "rules of thumb" and so some creativity is needed to make sure what you end up implementing serves the client well.

Advice to Management

Sure. And right after that, I'll teach Eli Manning how to throw a football. Are you kidding me? Mr. Najim and Mr. Mertens don't really seem to need much unsolicited advice at the moment.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

All co-workers are professional and very capable and there is a good amount of camaraderie. Sometimes that seem in spite of senior management, not because of.

    Cons

Merger with MSI occurred in December 2010. Since that time commission payments have been late and incomplete. Senior management did not give anywhere near enough time and focus to correcting this issue over several months.
There are numerous other issues with the back office in general. Most of this stems from a very convoluted workflow and no ownership or accountability of any step in the process by the individual handling it. Some of this may be fixed as integration of systems continues but not enough is being done and not fast enough.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that once an employee takes ownership of any step in the process they are held to standards to make sure that it is done correctly and timely. An incredible amount of time and effort is wasted tracking down problems that crop up somewhere along the line.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The best thing about the company is that it is a technology company which lends itself to having up-to-date technologies available for the employees.

    Cons

The biggest downside in my opinion is that there needs to be more flexibility in terms of work-life balance. Another downside is that there is huge lack of leadership below upper management (across the board, not just speaking in one department).

    Advice to Management

Be more strategic and let employees be the expert at their job. Also consider adopting a more open management style, reorganize to be more horizontal rather than vertical in organizational structure.
