No opinion of CEO

Pros

Cutting edge radio that nobody else in the radio business can do
Great studios and great equipment to work with for the most part
Great co-workers who work very hard and are very dedicated
Good benefits compared to a lot of other places
A great Christmas party every year

Cons

Low salaries compared to terrestrial stations and especially to TV jobs that are similar
Long hours are required with no overtime paid
Little recognition for producing great radio on a daily basis and little incentive to continue to do that other than to keep a job
Middle and senior management seem more concerned with not making waves and keeping their jobs than working with the drones that do all the work

Advice to Management

Recognize the hard work the troops in the trenches are doing. The senior management does not seem to understand or care how hard these people work.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at SiriusXM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

For the majority of my tenure, it was excellent. Pre-merger XM offered a great culture, great people who challenged me and solid management. Great location and office on King West. Generally pretty organized and everyone was on the same page in terms of direction and worked together very well. Employees and executives worked well together and creativity and idea exchange was encouraged. Departments worked reasonably well together toward end goals. Then the merger happened......

    Cons

......and it all went to hell. The Sirius management team took over for the most part. The culture was terrible; office location was terrible, senior management was disassociated and completely unapproachable, unrealistic and detached from the day to day management/workers. The organization was very siloed. The lack of focus on customer support was alarming - very poor customer service management and leadership. Professional growth opportunities were minimal and they stifled growth from within the organization. Creativity was stifled. The CEO just sat there, banged his fist and collected his large pay cheque while instilling a culture of fear and counterproductive inter-departmental competitiveness. It became a grotesque place to work.

    Advice to Management

Look after your employees. Try living up to the values you communicate as your core. Get out of crystal tower and try to build a collaborative culture that promotes creativity, the free flow of ideas and professional growth of your employees
