I worked at SiriusXM full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Decent salary and benefits.
Better than being unemployed.
Looks good on a resume.

Cons

Expected to be on call 24/7. Zero work life balance.
Some senior level management people don't have a clue how to manage people.
Not a good team atmosphere. Too many groups that don't work well together.
Many times it seems like they actually TRY to annoy customers. Customer satisfaction is a foreign concept when it comes to decision making.

Advice to Management

Get better senior executives that have customer handling and people leadership skills.

I worked at SiriusXM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Overall, very nice people to work with.
    - A fair expectation of work hours. Not a sweat shop.
    - The programming portion of the business is interesting.

    Cons

    - The way the brand group operates is very odd. They run campaigns separate from the other groups, and have final approval of all work, but do not really provide strategic leadership.
    - The company is very conservative with their creative approach.
    - The radio sales portion of the business is kind of dull (especially after-market radios, very few changes in lineup over time).

    Advice to Management

Much of senior management comes from a radio station background and not a consumer electronics or entertainment subscriptions. They could benefit from a better mix.

I worked at SiriusXM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked with some great people, and you're selling a product people love and are passionate about.

    Cons

Surprisingly patriarchal and old-fashioned management style. The economics are tight - it always seems like we're one day away from bankruptcy! Even within the tech team, there's very serious concern about the long-term validity of the product and business model.

    Advice to Management

Be a little more innovative and fast-moving. Make your management style match the coolness of the brand itself.
