I worked at Sky full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benifits package - free Sky broadband and TV.
Salary on joining within market rates

    Cons

Up to joining Sky I had been with my previous employer for over 8 years (only redundancy made me leave) so the fact I only lasted here 7 months says it all.

Fast moving pressurised environment, software releases into every 8 weeks or so meant that lots of defects were not being found prior to deployment in production.
Non-existent work/life balance; under constant pressure to work excessive hours, including weekends, Sometimes unpaid
Lack of process and good practice; this is not a good place to work if your profession is in testing and you like working in a structured environment.
Training promised but not forthcoming for call centre staff that had moved into the testing practice
Aggressive management culture, witnessed bullying when there.
Politics between the Senior Test and Project Management teams
High turnover of staff; almost the entire 2011 recruitment intake left within 12 months.
A depressing location on an industrial park in the middle of nowhere

    Advice to Management

Can only comment on the division I worked in, but a massive overhaul in culture is needed. Management need to learn to treat staff with a bit of dignity and respect.

Put structures and processes in place so to improve the quality of the products in development; this will lead to a happier more motivated staff with less s turnover
