I worked at Skyhorse Publishing full-time

    Pros

It's a job. There are a few nice people there.

    Cons

    - Upper management that insists upon absolute control over everything while also being opaque and inconsistent, and constantly changing their mind. Any communication from them is tone-deaf and unclear, and it's often nonexistent. This type of management not feasible for the size of the company, and is difficult and generally awful to work for. - Focus is 100% on quantity of books over quality. As a result, workloads...

      Pros

Summer Fridays! Free Bagels. The office is super close to Penn Station. 9 to 5:30 work week.

      Cons

It felt a lot like high school... Turnover like you wouldn't believe. Somehow, and I'm not sure how or why.... but apparently working 2 years as an assistant qualifies you to jump to a manager position with little to no managing experience. This place is quite the giggle when it comes to hiring and firing. In the time that I was there the entire publicity department quit, a new team was hired, and then shortly...
