    I have been working at Skype full-time

    Pros

    * Great work/life balance.
    * Very fulfilling product to work on - Skype is a very loved brand, and it feels good to read about the great ways we improve people's lives.
    * Microsoft is pretty good parent company

    Cons

    * NOTHING gets done. No real progress in the last year. Viber, Whatsapp, LINE, Google are all now much better than Skype. We cannot do build anything any more
    * Decisions take forever to make. Senior management will consistently avoid making a decision if there is any way out
    * Compensation and career progression heavily tied to acquisition value. New employees don't seem to get a great deal unless they are coming from Microsoft

    Advice to Management

    Find a way to inspire urgency back in the organisation - either through acquisition (what ever happened to GroupMe?) or by firing a lot of the current org. Lead by example - make a decision or two.
