A Great Place to Work - Virtual Receptionist Smith.ai Employee Review

      Pros

Smith.ai really has a family like atmosphere. Granted, you work remotely, and likely have not met your co-workers in person, the ability to connect and relate with so many individuals is amazing. The owners, Justin & Aaron are actively involved and communicate regularly with the team. They constantly searching for feedback on things that can improve, and that says a lot about who they are and the company they run. There are numerous roles that you can take on to advance your career. The team is constantly growing and new positions are frequently formed to fit the needs of both the company and the employees. If you want to work for a company where your voice is heard and you can make a difference, where you are able to grow both professionally, and personally, then Smith.ai is just what you are looking for.

      Cons

Smith.ai is still a young company, with that comes growing pains of course. Things are constantly changing as the company finds new and better ways to operate. New policies are implemented regularly to keep up with the ever growing team. The work environment is fast paced, if you do not work well under pressure, you likely will not be a good fit. There are days when stress levels are very high, customers are rude and co-workers aren't the friendliest (but hey, you work remotely so you don't have to get dressed to leave the house ;)) You get Holiday's off, but they are not paid which can lead to a smaller than normal paycheck, overtime is not permitted. Pay is reasonable considering you are working from home, you aren't putting gas in your car and you won't need a new wardrobe- however it is on the lower side when you look across the board at what others in similar positions are paid.

        Pros

While I am still a newbie with this company and, due to lack of experience, cannot offer much insight-YET. The hiring process was a bit daunting at first but, in hindsight, it prepared me for the role of virtual assistant and the duties that come with the position. My training team is absolutely amazing. Did I mention its also a remote position?! Or that they also offer some benefits like 401k, Medical, Dental and Vision- just to name a few. To top everything off, they treat you like a human being- if an emergency situation arises, that requires one to be absent from work, they do not belittle you for it or make you feel like a terrible person for doing what you HAD to do. Finally, they have a "Video/Facetime Not Required or Expected" policy that was put in place for people with anxiety (like myself) or fear of being on camera and that is just... It takes the pressure off of you- to have to look a certain way, act a certain way, dress a certain way- that can be stressful for some people. It is probably one of the most considerate policies I've ever seen from an employer.

        Cons

The training schedule is mandatory to follow and if such an emergency situation does arise and prevents one from training so many consecutive days, they have to start from the beginning.

          Pros

Work from home without needing to have camera on for meetings.

          Cons

There is a huge lack of training. No support. Management says they're open to feedback but they lie and become defensive and blame you when feedback is provided. Constant misinformation and misleading information being advised between support, trainers, management, and special teams. They have a great tool available while on calls of a chat widget to reach out for support if you have a question while on a call. However at times you reach out and are advised to handle a call a certain way so you do. Then later you get a mistake back for doing what the support team advised you via the chat widget. This has happened to me multiple times over the past year. Its not supports fault though, they are just advising you what they have been trained to. They do try to help. The system is very outdated and cannot handle the growth they are bringing in. Very inefficient call handling policies. At times you have to enter a callers name in four or five different locations on the same phone call. Oh they are cutting hours like crazy right now.

        Senior Resource Manager

Last Thursday and Friday I interviewed with 2 hiring managers for 2 different companies. Both of them said they’d like me to progress to the next interview and the recruiter would reach out. One company said they wanted a offer out this month so it would be a quick process. I sent thank you emails and references. I haven’t heard from either recruiter. I had the recruiter screening and hiring manager interview just days apart, I thought I’d hear back by now. Thoughts?!
